Jim Byrnes with Simon Kendall & Eric Reed

“Jim Byrnes shows that he just might be the next singer-songwriter you mention to all your friends.”- Axs Magazine
Jim Byrnes lives and breathes music. For nearly fifty years he’s crooned, drawled, belted, hollered and sweet talked more songs into a microphone than most people ever get to hear in a single lifetime. His evocative, smoky vocals are found in a truth that doesn’t come overnight. The sheer joy you can hear in the music he creates is a reason to celebrate Jim Byrnes as a living musical treasure.

With many award winning albums to his credit (Maple Blues Awards, WCMAs, Junos, Canadian Folk Music Awards), Jim Byrnes is that artist who will light up the stage with songs and stories, tried and true.

SC Arts Centre: Artesia Coffee House – Confirmed we are on and see you all tonight

Dress up warm, drive carefully, and join us as we warm the SC Art Centres with some hot live music tonight as we present an eclectic evening starting the night with Jess Hart, a multi-talented musician, and a dynamic composer. Her music is a blend of folk, grunge and soul influences which can be noted in her compositions. She has performed across Canada and toured in Europe, with performances in Germany, Malta, and France.

Following Jess is a father and son duo, Chris, and Solomon Hergesheimer, who will be performing the original songs of ‘Marketplace’; the politically driven, anti-capitalist, hard hitting acoustic folk project.

After a break to completely liven up the place is Caravan Paradiso, a Felliniesque marching band that also occasionally performs in stationary venues. Featuring Graham Ord on soprano sax, Heather Anderson on trombone, Anna Lumiere on accordion and piano, James Law on drums/percussion and sometimes fiddle. This fun and helter skelter band play a style they describe as “funky Romany jazz mashup” featuring film music (Nino Rota – the Godfather, Fellini movies, Austin Powers, Harry Potter) as well as various world music selections (Brazilian, Slavic).
