My current paintings on exhibit explore the theme of human emotions (fear, anger, despair and hope.
In 2018, I completed a Certificate in Advanced Painting from Emily Carr University. Today I work in acrylic using brushes, palette knives, sticks and other scraping tools. I am experimenting with the gestural aspect of action painting.
Some artists I have been inspired by are Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944); Artemesia Gentileschie (1593-1654); Jenny Saville (1970-present); and Sarah Awad (1981-present).
My current work is an exploration of global disfunction, war and my reaction to it.
Kathryn Poole and Wendy Charters are joining Kathryn Poole presenting a selection of coastal, lifestyle, wildlife and abstract paintings: ranging from vibrant to calming and contemplative. Iris’ bold and colourful abstracts perfectly complement Kathryn’s more impressionist wildlife and west coast imagery, while Wendy’s eclectic representational works embrace our BC lifestyle and spectacular vistas.
Showing with fellow artists at the Sunshine Coast Golf Club.
