I am a life-long woodworker who was a shop-rat in high school and went on to become a journeyman cabinetmaker. Around 1990, I retrained as a high school shop teacher and spent 30 years in the school system, the last half as a career facilitator. I have always had a lathe, and have recently found more time to use it. Currently I am retired and can be found in my shop on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
I use sustainably harvested, or gleaned logs from the forests and beaches of the BC coast. I love how every block of wood reveals its own shape as I form it on the lathe. Each unique piece is hand rubbed with a food safe finish.
