I am a graphic artist by profession and graduate of the Alberta College of Art (now Alberta University of the Arts) in Visual Communication. I have lived on the coast for the last 22 years and as my business is transitioning I have involved in more personal artistic expression. Even though I have been using soft pastels for a while, I am still experimenting with line and shadow and colour within the context of natural things. Fur, feathers, surfaces. The opportunities for so many different textures with this medium on textured paper is very intriguing.
I am trained as a Graphic Artist and have had a full career, but now that part of my life is winding down, the opportunity for a bit more personal expression is presenting itself. Even though I have been using soft pastels for a while, I am still experimenting with line and shadow and colour within the context of natural things. Fur, feathers, surfaces. The opportunities for so many different textures with this medium on textured paper is very intriguing. I am looking forward to sharing this venue with many other creative people and the energy that will come with it.
