Porpoise Bay Studio - Marilyn Charles

Recently I discovered Kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique that utilizes various kinds of cords, fibers, and/or beads to make necklaces and bracelets. Kumihimo can result in some amazing jewelry pieces. The process requires extensive planning before the actual braiding begins. It is a challenge to envision how certain choices of colors and patterns will translate into the finished piece. One never knows for sure what the result will be…..so there is an element of fun and mystery when I am creating Kumihimo jewelry.
