Porpoise Bay Studio - Marilyn Charles

Nine years ago I discovered Kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique that utilizes various kinds of cords, fibers, and/or beads to make necklaces and bracelets. Kumihimo can result in some amazing jewelry pieces. The process requires extensive planning before the actual braiding begins. It is a challenge to envision how certain choices of colors and patterns will translate into the finished piece. One never knows for sure what the result will be…..so there is an element of fun and mystery when I am creating Kumihimo jewelry.
I am looking forward to participating in the Art Crawl again this year. I will have many examples of the Kumihimo braiding technique on display and for sale in the form of necklaces and bracelets.
Because I share the studio/gallery space with my husband Peter, you will have the opportunity to view his watercolor paintings at the same time (a two for one Art Crawl experience).
We look forward to your visit at # 149 on the Art Crawl Map!
