Kathryn Fullerton Ceramics
The origins of ‘aesthetic’ lead back to the ancient Greek aisthesis, which has been described as a breathing in or taking in of the world, the gasp, the ‘aha,’ the ‘uh’ of the breath in wonder, shock, and amazement. Images have the power to bring us to a standstill where the flow of time is invaded by the timeless and this is what I wish to imbue in my sculptural work with clay.
Bone Series (Japan)
A small collection of ceramics from my most recent woodfiring in Japan. Each piece is hand formed, carved and fired for 52 hours in the Hotarugama (firefly) kiln during my residency with a master potter at his home village in Japan.
Primordial Series
A collection of ceramics from my most recent pit firing on the Sunshine Coast. ‘Chthonic’ will be featured in Canada’s PhotoED Magazine, Winter 2023/2024.
Nourish Bowls
This limited series of 4 woodfired celadon glazed bowls was inspired by a dream, which led me to create these beautiful vessels to feed and fuel the body.
