Art Exhibition: Richelle Greabeiel – the waves broke on the shore

to Feb 28th. Vancouver-based Richelle Greabeiel brings us a site-specific installation that invites the viewer to consider what value might be held in the physicality of a found object and simultaneously within impermanence, and negative space/emptiness the installation’s chosen materiality considers Gibsons’ history as the first site in so called British Columbia to begin accepting styrofoam at it’s recycling depot. Additionally, copper is used to reference the Britannia Copper Mine’s role in the contamination of the Átl’ka7tsem (Howe Sound) which surrounds Gibsons; the mine was closed in 1974.
