For nearly 60 years watercolour sketching—and its extension, landscape painting—has been my research tool, and the world, my studio. My brush is guided by a geographer’s mind’s eye, an artist’s skill, and a free spirit. Personal encounters with “new” landscapes—the interplay between Humanity, Earth, and Cosmos—bring me joy. It is not the place per se, but rather how my mind responds in new ways, that enriches my being. Man went to the moon and discovered the Earth. I travelled near and far and discovered myself. Landscape painting has become an avenue of self-realization. I have shared my art through exhibitions in twelve countries and a number of books.
Contemporary and historic landscapes by a geographer/artist reflect the beauty, wonder, spirit and romance of sites/sights around the world captured in watercolour on a variety of papers and canvas during nearly 60 years of an ongoing painting journey.
