Are you a weaving-curious crafter who would like an opportunity to learn some tapestry weaving skills, or are one of my past students who could benefit from having me around to answer questions while you weave? Come to the next weaving party!
Price: $15 includes snacks (I usually make pie!), Everlea Mini Loom rental if needed, yarn, and soft instruction. Registration is required. Opportunities to purchase yarns, looms and accessories are available. Low income people are welcome to come for free; use the code PARTYTIME to register at no charge.
What to bring: A loom if you have one, any yarns you may want to weave with, also provide a selection of yarns to play with.
Learn the art of tapestry weaving using a handcrafted Everlea mini loom and a gorgeous array of naturally dyed yarns
This workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of tapestry weaving, like building shapes and blending colors as well as some special techniques!
You will learn to use and take home the following:
-handcrafted mini loom
-5 naturally dyed card bobbins (enough to make 5 small tapestries
-weaving needle
-twine, magnet, pin – for mounting finished work
-support materials: ebook, access to online recording of learned techniques

Cedar + Devil’s Club Bracelet Workshop

Learn how to weave a Cedar and Devil’s Club bracelet with shíshálh artist and weaver Jessica Silvey, and through this, learn about the relations between plants of the forest, their vulnerabilities and collaborations. Presented as part of syiyaya Days in collaboration with the District of Sechelt.

This year we are delighted to offer 3 kid’s summer workshops, each combining art making with outdoor exploration. In the morning participants learn to work with textiles, weave, or paint led by a senior artist/teacher. In the afternoon, walks and discussions take over as we explore natural spaces near the Art Centre. Workshops run 10:00 – 3:00 each day, with a break provided for lunch. Participants must bring their own lunch, a water bottle and a mask if needed for any indoor activities.
