Pride Film Screening: I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing

Beloved award-winning Canadian queer cult classic I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing stars Sheila McCarthy (Little Mosque on the Prairie, Women Talking) as Polly, an inquisitive amateur photographer and daydreaming office assistant at a Toronto art gallery, who obsesses over the fashionable Curator (Paule Baillargeon, Jesus of Montreal) and her lover (author Anne-Marie MacDonald, Better Than Chocolate). A whimsical exploration of love and the meaning of art. (1987, 83 min, rated PG). Free popcorn!

Art Exhibition: In This Together

From June 1st – June 29th, GPAG is excited to host In This Together- Sunshine Coast Pride Exhibition curated by Anna Nobile. All 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, emerging artists, makers, and creatives located on the Sunshine Coast, including the upper Coast and qathet (Powell River), are exhibit their artwork.

 

Portraits

Join exhibiting artist Cindy Riach for an engaging conversation and portrait demo in oils. There will be a live model and Cindy will be taking questions.

Alternative Photography

Join exhibiting artist troch for a one hour talk on current alternative darkroom techniques, including lumen printing, lith printing and the chromoskedasic sabattier process. There will be time for questions too!

Interactive Conversations

Saturdays to June 24. Join exhibiting artist:

June 10 – 1pm; Cindy Riach for a portrait demo in oils. There will be a live model and Cindy will be taking questions.
June 18 – 2pm; Meet Brian Baxter to learn more about his artwork and ask questions.

From June 1st – June 29th, GPAG is excited to host In This Together- Sunshine Coast Pride Exhibition curated by Anna Nobile. All 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, emerging artists, makers, and creatives located on the Sunshine Coast, including the upper Coast and qathet (Powell River), are encouraged to submit their artwork.

Please drop off your artwork at the Gallery, May 27th – May 28th, from 11am – 4pm, with a completed entry form and labels affixed to the back or base of each artwork. More information, submission guidelines and entry forms can be found online at https://gpag.ca/submissions/.
