Open Art Studios Event Spring 2024! Four exciting art studios open their doors in Gibsons for an enjoyable and personal mini art crawl. Visit any of the following artist’s studios on May 18th from 10am to 5pm. One day only! This is a free event! Kandice Keith Art Open Studio

Just in time for Valentine’s Day! Open studio at Kandice Keith Art in Roberts Creek featuring new whimsical creatures, ready made gifts and live painting.

Visit Kandice in her new studio to discover her fun and impressionistic style and use of bright, luminous colour evident throughout her work of native wildlife and landscapes.

Sip on yummy hot apple cider and savour some holiday treats. Plus, there will be something for everyone on your list including new mini birds originals, ready framed prints, and greeting card sets.

Salsa ¡Fiesta! at Tapworks

Grab your partner for a sensual evening of salsa, bachata, merengue and more at Gibson’s best view taproom, Tapworks, this Tuesday, August 29th. Your intro to salsa lesson begins at 7 PM and Latin beats by DJ ITAL’NA will be pumping from 7:45 until closing. Our friends will be showing up at 6 PM to enjoy Tapworks’ signature brew and delicious food fare! Please come join us! Tickets are by donation online or cash at the door. Salsa at Persephone

Grab your partner for a sensual evening of salsa, bachata, merengue and more at Gibson’s quintessential beer farm, Persephone Brewing, this Tuesday, September 5th. Dance lesson begins at 6PM and music will be played from 6:45. Doors open at 5 pm and close at 8 pm. Come early to enjoy Persephone’s signature brew and delicious food fare! Tickets by donation, online registration required.

Funky Swing Foodbank Fundraiser

Join us for Sun Coast Swing’s Funky Swing Foodbank Fundraiser every Thursday this August at Sechelt’s Seaside Centre! Get acquainted with the smooth and silky dance patterns of west coast swing blues at your beginner dance lessons on August 10th, 17th, and 24th from 6:00-7:30 pm so you can enjoy your dance party on Thursday, August 31st from 6:00-9:00 pm. Registration is required in advance and 100% of your proceeds will go to Sunshine Coast Community Services Society food bank. CASH ONLY at the door.

Art Studio Open: Eldon Underhill

July 1-2; 8-9. A show of recent painterly works by local artist Eldon Underhill. Expressive figurative and abstract images reflect a vibe of the times and emphasize materials and processes that are often hidden.

Marleen Vermeulen Open Studio Event – “Seamless”

Marleen Vermeulen (marleenart.com) is sharing her latest oil paintings with you, including the featured collaboration piece with her son Dolf Vermeulen- “Seamless”. She’s also looking forward to introduce you to the pottery of Bev Ellis (www.bevellis.com) Inspired by the bark of birch trees. Her work directly resonates with the textured oil paintings of Marleen. Graham Ord on saxes and flute, together with Anna Lumiere on keyboard (Anagram) will be playing a repertoire influenced by Brazilian and Latin rhythms to some funky, quirky grooves. Live music from 12:00 till 3:00pm

PR – qathet Studio Tour

The annual qathet Studio Tour is a free self-guided event that will be held the last weekend in August (Sat & Sun Aug 27 & 28), from 10am-4pm. With 28 venues and over 40 participating artists – some venues hosting multiple artists – it’s a great way for art-makers and art lovers to meet and exchange ideas, and of course sell some of the exciting new art produced on the upper Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. Each year we welcome hundreds of eager visitors into our homes and studios to see where the magic happens.
