Just Dance Tournament

Ages 8+ Go head-to-head with your friends in Nintendo Switch’s ultimate dance video game. This energetic dance game uses popular music and simple choreographies to get you moving and giggling. It scores points based on accuracy and coordination, which will determine our winners! Snacks provided and all experience levels are welcome.

PJ Storytime and Stuffie Sleepover – Part 2

Come and watch the slideshow and discover all the fun your stuffie had overnight in the library!

Families are invited to bring their stuffies for a special storytime. Feel free to wear your PJs. The stuffed animals will spend the night and we will have a slideshow the next day to see all the fun they had during their sleepover. If a child doesn’t wish to leave a toy overnight, they can still attend for storytime.

NSMEC Marine Science Summer Camps for Kids

The Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Center offers experiential, educational spring break and summer day camps for school age children in Gibsons and throughout the Sunshine Coast! We keep our group sizes small, and our staff-child ratio high, to maximize fun and safety. Our camps focus on various themes around local marine ecology, biology, and conservation – taking place inside our aquarium, and outside at nearby beaches and parks.

Summer Camps Options :

Ocean Explorers (entering Grades 2-4 in September 2022)

Sunshine Coast Marine Safari (entering Grades 5-6 in September 2022)

Rogue Fest

Rogue Fest is a 3 day outdoor festival where you can discover your new favourite band, get inspiration from engaging visual and interactive arts, participate in a community mural, and check out some killer local food and libations all on an idyllic farm surrounded by second and third growth forest.

Summer Sk8 Skool ’22

Wednesdays July: 6, 13, 22 Aug 3, 10, 17.

Intro to Skateboarding for ages 5-12 from beginner to SK8TR in 6 classes. Limited to 20 students per class.

Squamish Stories with Kung Jaadee

In her live storytelling performance, Kung Jaadee will share her telling of Squamish legends popularized by Indigenous activist and poet E. Pauline Johnson’s book, “Legends of Vancouver.” Kung Jaadee (Roberta Kennedy) is a professional storyteller, educator and published author belonging to the X̱aayda (Haida), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations. Her Haida name, Kung Jaadee, means ‘Moon Woman’ and was presented to her at her great uncle’s memorial feast by her cousin Crystal Robinson. Over the past 28 years, Kung Jaadee has performed traditional Haida legends, while also sharing vivid personal stories about her clan’s survival of the smallpox epidemic, and the history and culture of her people. Drop-in Writing with Kallie George

For ages 7-13. Bring something you’re working on or just be ready to learn! Kallie George is a children’s editor, creative writing teacher, and author of a number of children’s books including The Secret Fawn which was recently shortlisted for the 2022 Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize.

PR – Texada Aerospace Camp

July 27-30. The purpose of the Aerospace Camp is to immerse youth from 10 to 16 years in the basics of aviation and aerospace sciences using unique training aids specifically designed and built by experienced volunteer technicians, pilots and scientists. The curriculum consists mainly of hands-on projects.

Kids Camps: Exploring Textiles

July 18– 20, 2022 | Monday – Wednesday; 10 – 3pm

Ages: 8-13, Max 12 participants

Instructor: Natalie Grambow

Cost: $140/$180 (Member/Non-Member)

This year we are delighted to offer 3 kid’s summer workshops, each combining art making with outdoor exploration.  In the morning participants learn to weave, collage or paint led by a senior artist/teacher. In the afternoon, walks and discussions take over as we explore natural spaces near the Art Centre. Workshops run 10:00 – 3:00 each day, with a break provided for lunch. Participants must bring their own lunch, a water bottle and a mask if needed for any indoor activities.

Coast Fiddle Camp

Camp date July 18-19-20, 2022 – 9am – 12pm, Davis Bay Community Hall. Instructors include: JJ Guy, Gordon Stobbe, Geoff Horrocks, Trish Horrocks and Jennie Bice.
