Opportunity: Call for Artists, Photographers & Authors- 3rd Annual Art & Words Festival

Be a part of the Art & Words Festival 2024, August 22-25, at Gibsons Public Market, where you’ll be paired at random with an artist to create magic works of literature and art.

New this year, on the first day of the festival we will have a book & art fair in the market, where participants can sell their art and books. We’re also accepting proposals for workshops.

Last year about 4,000 people came through the doors and saw the show, which included the awards ceremony of our SCWES Book Awards for BC Authors!

Gibsons Public Market: Easter Sunday Fun

Kids can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, a coloring table, and Easter-themed games. Everything kicks off right when we open at 10 am, and the Easter hunt will be ongoing until noon.
The Easter Egg Hunt is open to children of all ages and is non-competitive. Great for the baby bunnies!
This is a FREE event; donations are welcome!

Gibsons Public Market: Saturday Live Music: Stephan LaCasse

Stephan LaCasse is a singers-songwriter from Roberts Creek! He released his debut full-length album “Whiskey Creek Surf Shop Blues” in January. Gibsons Public Market Saturday Live Music: John Pa Rainey

Pa Rainey was recorded singing Hank Williams tunes at 3 years old , but they didn’t want go on the Louisiana Hayride radio hour so he ran away with his guitar and kazoo. Fortunately Elizabeth Cotton was driving by with Will Shade, Leon Redbone and Memphis Minnie in Pete Seager’s car. They saw pa hitchhiking and gave him a ride.
They all had a great time drinking coffee and playing show tunes, been gigg’in ever since .

Saturday Live Music: Michael Maser

Michael has been playing music on the Coast since he landed here 25 years ago. He’s played many solo gigs and with varying ensembles of fellow musicians, especially the ‘Duttons’ group of which he has been a regular for 20 years (gulp!). He plays folk, jazz, blues and celtic with the help of guitar and harmonica.

Gibsons Public Market: Saturday Live Music – Douglas Campbell

A 3rd generation resident of the Sunshine Coast, an accomplished composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. He has played in a number of country, rock and gospel bands throughout the western provinces and was instrumental in forming the locally known “Ruff Cut Band” & “Half Cut & The Slackers”.
