Enjoy a night of Tropical Tiki Adventure with Chef Heidi, aka Gidget.
Chef Heidi Murphy—co-owner of The Shameful Tiki Room and founder of El Segundo—invites guests to a Demo & Dine that dives headfirst into the era of old-school tiki. Expect bamboo bar energy. Layered flavours. Big garnishes. Dim lights. Storytelling through food. This evening showcases bold, nostalgic, flavour-forward bites inspired by the golden era of tiki, crafted with fresh ingredients from Fong’s Market and executed with chef-level precision.
Guests will experience:
• Tiki-inspired appetizers with depth, spice, and just enough indulgence
• Rum-driven cocktails featuring dramatic garnish techniques
• Hosting tips to create a personal tropical hideaway
• Styling inspiration that leans retro — not tacky
This is escapism done right. A little theatrical. A little cheeky. Fully intentional.
For anyone who has ever wanted to host something that feels more like a secret club than a summer BBQ, this is the night.
Come hungry. Come curious. Let Gidget handle the rest.

With formal training in graphic design inspired his love of typography but was also influenced by hands-on learning of early letterpress printing methods.
This was followed by a stint as a typesetter in a small letterpress shop where he was tasked with handsetting and casting hot metal type on Ludlow linecasting equipment, as well as assembling my forms for the presses. This first hand exposure would bring about a transformative change in his career when, after 20+ years of designing with type by digital means would come full circle and return to analog methods for arranging type for the page.
