DJ Shub the Godfather of PowWowStep at the Hall

Are you ready for a killer night of music at the Roberts Creek Hall? Get ready for the one and only DJ Shub (formerly of A Tribe Called Red), a Mohawk of the Turtle Clan of the Six Nations of the Grand River.
Considered the Godfather of PowWowStep, DJ Shub won the 2022 JUNO Award for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year. His latest album, War Club, was released to critical acclaim, featuring collaborations with other Indigenous and BIPOC artists like Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Boogát, Fawn Wood, and Phoenix Pagliacci to name a few.
Supporting him will be much-loved local DJ Deano from the Eagle Clan of the Heiltsuk Nation (Skookum Sound System and See Monsters)!!
Join us for what is sure to be a night of amazing beats. Semir’s hot dog cart will be set up to keep you well fed!

Los Duendes – Pork Roast Dinner & Latin Dance

Los Duendes is a Psychedelic Latin Fusion band based out of Vancouver. Mixing genres like Cumbia, Salsa and Jazz with heavy metal guitar riffs, their unique sound mirrors the vibrancy and diversity of contemporary Canadian culture.
There will be Pork Roast Dinner followed by Latin Dance.

Jazz Fest: Swing Dance with Deanna Knight & the Hot Club of Mars

Swing Dance Lessons by Alex Hart at 6:30-7:15. Band starts at 7:30 with live Gypsy Jazz from traditional to the unusual. Travel back in time to the early acoustic-swing era of the 1920’s & 30’s and experience one of Vancouver’s most eclectic gypsy jazz ensembles.
Local chanteuse, Deanna Knight reunites with the driving rhythms and hot solos of Michael Dunn and his Hot Club joined by Tom Neville on violin. Be inspired to dance or sit back and relax to an eclectic repertoire including original compositions, tango, bossa, boogie, Hawaiian and more.
Tickets $20 Sr Centre members; $30 general; $40 at the door from Strait Music, Sechelt, One Flower One Leaf in Gibsons, at the door or eventbrite.

John Campbell Soul/Jazz singer & Pianist performing @ Hackett Park

We are blessed to have John Campbell coming to the Coast!

John is a singer/songwriter pianist and composer based in Toronto Canada. John’s rich soulful voice and virtuosity on the piano and keyboard has given him a distinctive sound in soul/r&b/jazz and gospel music. A performer, producer, actor and speaker, John’s artistic and creative voice is based in hope, passion and inspiration.

Come enjoy his performance on the stage @ Hackett Park in the evening of June 3rd featuring our local star Kiki Connely!

Body Sounding: Workshop with Sally Allison Williams

Move to the core of the matter with vital mind-body reeducation. We begin with the feet, hips (psoas and pelvic floor) and protection for the knees, then go closer in with movement, sound, breath and vocal exercises. Based on Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, and Emilie Conrad’s Continuum techniques, these foundational exercises will strengthen your mobility, voice, and inner calm, whether for stage, dance, singing, cross-training, pickleball or everyday life. Sally is a well-known actor and director on the Sunshine Coast, with many years of movement and vocal experience and education.
FREE but space is limited (in person only). Registration is required; register online or call the Library at 604-886-2130.

Coast Swing Out

There will be a lesson and some great music to dance to. Bring friends or come alone, no partner needed.

Five Alarm Funk is a horn-powered, percussion-fueled, sonic and visual rave. The band is known for their epic live shows featuring wild costumes, electric choreography, & tight arrangements of Gypsy-Rock, Afro-Funk, Reggae, Ska, and Punk.
On stage, Five Alarm Funk are an unstoppable orgy of energy–eight musicians deliver intricate arrangements with melodic climaxes, while the four percussionists create a true spectacle. For twenty years, the band has brought their relentless and unforgettable live show to clubs and major festivals across Canada and the United States.

The Roberts Creek Community Association is proud to bring Five Alarm Funk to the Roberts Creek Community Hall!

Tickets – $30-40 SLIDING SCALE. All proceeds go directly to the RC Community Hall.
