Artist Lisa Hau has a passion for colour that she wants to share with you. Using hands-on colour mixing, participants will learn how colour is mixed using light. This workshop is designed to expand the creative work of artists, designers and craftspeople through a greater understanding of colour, but is still accessible for absolute beginners to colour theory.
This workshop will use acrylic paints. Check in store for full materials list. Materials are not included in workshop fee.

Demonstration of Ukrainian pisanki eggs being ‘written’. This is a special feature to celebrate Easter and the opening season day of the Sechelt Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market. Join us as artist Janet Richey shows you the colourful process of making these icon decorated eggs. Janet will be graciously accepting donations to support an art therapy program for children in war-torn Ukraine. While you’re there check out the many new and returning vendors of the market! to Mar 31. Sunshine Coast youth aged two to eighteen have been invited to submit their artwork for display at the Gallery. In addition to offering an inspiring body of work that represents the creativity of our community’s youth, this exhibition is also an opportunity for young people to experience what it is like to be a professional exhibiting artist at GPAG. Don’t miss this vibrant and popular exhibition featuring drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, and more running March 14 – March 31. Note: for Spring Break the Gallery is open every day during the run of the exhibition (11am – 4pm). Admission is free/by donation.

We offer a small grant of up to $500 for you to bring your community project to life. With a Neighbourhood Small Grant, you join our network of thousands of project leaders who have taken steps to better their neighbourhoods—just like you.
Why are we doing this? Because magic happens when neighbours connect. It forms friendships, makes our communities safer and more vibrant. We have helped make communities in British Columbia stronger, safer, and more welcoming since 1999. Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) provides grants of up to $500 for projects that connect people socially or involve sharing skills or talents with each other.

Illustrating the complex relationship between fashion and women’s oppression, exploitation, and empowerment, local artist Tam Harrington uses recycled metal and plastics to create wearable metal art and sculptures. Each piece in this exhibition portrays a time period or a woman that influenced the artist and contributed to the empowerment of all women. All sculptures and wearable metal art are made from recycled or found metal or plastic items that are traditionally associated with the feminine.

We are now accepting applications for the Main Gallery and the Eve Smart Gallery. We accept submissions from both emerging and established artists working in all mediums and styles.
On our website under ‘Submissions’ you can find our exhibition policy, submission guidelines and entry form, and a sample artist-gallery contract; or you may stop by GPAG to pick up a paper copy. Before submitting your proposal please check the submission guidelines and requirements carefully. We accept digital submissions made via Google Drive, DropBox, or USB thumb drive. The focus this weekend will be to discover different mediums to create texture within acrylic painting. Work on an abstract animal and a pure abstract using patterns and creating textures on the canvas to produce something unique. Students will take home two 11 x 14 paintings, and explore different ways to use:
-molding paste
– course textured gel medium
– pastels
– gesso
-glazing gloss medium

In this workshop, we will use INsight, INtuition & IMAGination to create meaningful, unusual, powerful self portraits and portraits of others.
You will be guided through a series of simple fun processes to help dismantle fixed viewpoints on what makes a ‘good or successful’ portrait and free up your inherent creative artistic abilities, using feelings, memories, imagination and senses.
You will have a range of painting, drawing, collage and other mixed media materials to use as you create your unique portraits.
All levels welcome. All materials provided.

Local multimedia artist Helen Farina will show participants the basic principles of gel printing & how to use a gel plate to create monoprints. We’ll experiment with mark-making tools to create interesting textures and designs, and create a series of botanical prints using different techniques.
All materials included, and participants will take home their own 5×7 gel plate!
