PR – Artist Card Trading Night

Do you know about Artist Trading Cards? Whether you do or don’t, we hope you’ll join us for ATC nights with host Harvey Chometsky.
In short, Artist Trading Cards are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in this collaborative event. There are only 2 “rules”: the cards must be 2.5″x3.5″ (the same as modern hockey cards or baseball cards), and they are only to be traded, not sold.
Make them ahead of time, or make them on the spot. We’ll bring some blanks and other art supplies.
And this is a family-friendly event!
Sign up here for reminders: https://www.qa-w.ca/contact

PR – qathet Art Centre: Gel Printing

Local multimedia artist Helen Farina will show participants the basic principles of gel printing & how to use a gel plate to create monoprints. We’ll experiment with mark-making tools to create interesting textures and designs, and create a series of botanical prints using different techniques.

Art Exhibition: HIROSHI SHIMAZAKI | The World As I See It

to Feb 11th. The World As I See It offers a glimpse into the mental processes of a geographer/artist practicing watercolour landscape sketching and painting for 60 years. In so doing, he has come to realize that, for him, landscape painting has much more to do with what happens in his mind than with the mechanics of “how to paint.” Defining landscape as the drama of the interplay between heaven, land, and living creatures, Shimazaki here presents some five dozen paintings on a variety of papers and watercolour canvas and 72 original sketches. The arrangement of the paintings with accompanying texts offers five windows into the artist’s mind: why he painted, where he painted, when he painted, what he painted, and how he painted.
