My inspiration is born from the works of the Impressionists and Abstract Expressionists. For me, creating oil pastel landscapes comes from my love of nature and the outdoors. I am also inspired by the way light and shadow play across the landscape. This includes incorporating metallic leaf into my images and working on black surfaces to highlight this effect. Overall, my goal is to create oil pastel landscapes that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but that also evoke a sense of connection to the natural world.
Working professionally as an artist full-time since 1989, my art has been featured in The Pastel Journal magazine, international travelling exhibitions, and numerous juried fine art competitions spanning various cities such as Vancouver, Chicago, Houston & San Francisco.
My studio will be open during the 2025 Art Crawl. VIVID OIL PASTEL LANDSCAPES.
