I have painted since I was a toddler: my mother painted, and when my older sister was sent off to residential school in the Yukon and my younger sister was still in a bassinet, my mother would set me up with watercolours and paper under her easel and the two of us would paint, sometimes for hours, either plain air or inside the cabin by lamp light depending on meteorologic conditions. I’ve studied at UBC, San Francisco art institute and have a degree from Emily Carr University. I’m a figure painter, but draw my inspiration and implicate the figure primarily from and in nature. I’ve been making much of my own paint for over a decade, and while I work primarily in oils, I have worked in casine, encaustic and tempra.
