I like to play with fibre and colours. My Tunisian Crochet yarn work blends tradition and modern colourways of natural yarns dyed in Canada. The result? Cozy wearable shawls in natural fibres of original colour blends that offer both comfort and timeless style. Some of my pieces are inspired by the natural beauty of Gambier Island, some play on the colourways of the work of other artists, and others pull from palettes of Impressionists (my favourite period!).
I also enjoy shaping and hammering copper wire by hand to make pins that are perfect companions for shawls–the ones I make, and the ones made by other hands.
Every piece I create is artisanal, unique, made with heart, intention, and a deep appreciation for lasting craftsmanship.
For three magical days, I am immersing myself in the imaginative world of artist Jen Drysdale and the happy memories Gord Dieroff. Jen’s working studio is the perfect setting for inspiration, a place where my colourful Tunisian crochet shawls and I feel right at home. Each shawl is unique, made of natural fibre hand-dyed in Canada by independent dyers (artists in their own right!) along with copper pins that begin as soft copper wire I hammer and shape.
