St Hilda’s Hall: Mythological Creatures

Tuesdays Nov 4, 18, 25. Presenter Viveca Ohm. Folk tales and mythology abound with magical creatures that never were – or were they?  Unicorns and dragons still put their stamp on modern culture, while ‘almost-humans’, from Sasquatch to cyclops, from elves to werewolves, that once haunted our campfires now spawn entertainment classics.  In this course, we’ll look at the many creatures that defy nature and science, yet prove our fascination with the Other is never far away.
