In 1998, Rob and Janet Bennie, with their sons John (13) and Ross (11), set out on a ride from Lhasa in Tibet to Kathmandu in Nepal along a section of the Silk Road. Against a backdrop of political upheaval and suffering from altitude sickness and oxygen deprivation, they cycled across the vast Tibetan Plateau.
