Clare Wilkening Studio: Wheel Throwing 1 – Beginner’s

Saturdays: February 21, 28, and March 7 & 14th.

Sundays: February 22, March 1, 8, & 22. Please note that there is no class during Spring Break, replaced with the following Sunday.

Discover the joy of working with clay in this introductory wheel-throwing course designed for absolute beginners. Over four weeks, you’ll learn the fundamentals of centering, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms such as bowls and cylinders. With hands-on guidance at every step, you’ll build confidence on the wheel while exploring the tactile, meditative nature of the process. We’ll cover trimming, surface techniques, and glazing so you can finish a small collection of your own handmade pieces. All are welcome ages 16 & up. No experience needed—just curiosity, patience, and a willingness to get a little muddy!

Materials Provided: 11 lbs of cone 6 clay and a bucket. Studio equipment & tools, glazes, and firings also included.
