Freeto Nov 23rd. An exhibition in the Eve Smart Gallery by Sooke artist Amber Lomax that delves into the themes of the subconscious, femininity, the reclamation of feminine power. Historically portrayed as an antagonist in folklore, the witch archetype has roots in healing and herbal knowledge, and was only later vilified and persecuted, perpetuating patriarchal dominance. Room at the Top serves as a reinterpretation and reclamation of this vilified figure, challenging a deeply entrenched narrative. The exhibition seeks to provoke introspection and dialogue, inviting viewers to reconsider preconceived notions of femininity, power, and societal narratives. Lomax’s work is inspired by imagery from dream life and the rich symbolism from subconscious.
Join us for the Opening Reception, Sat. Nov. 1, 2pm – 4pm
