Purple Banners wave roadside to mark your location and let visitors know you’re open!

The Map Guide invites the public to discover galleries, private studios, shops, and supporting businesses featuring original creations by local artists throughout the year.

The Purple Banner Studio & Gallery Guide is published annually in mid-May, with 16,000 copies printed and widely distributed. You’ll find it on BC Ferries, at Visitor Centres throughout the Sunshine Coast, and at numerous other outlets both on and off the Coast.

Participants must be current members of Coast Cultural Alliance to join

Criteria to be in the Purple Banner Guide regular listings

We want to meet our visitors’ expectations by setting a policy requiring that 70% of the product within the studio or gallery be created by local artists or artisans. A call ahead symbol on the listing is available for those not open regular hours.

How to Join or renew

If you are a current CCA member

  • Log on to coastculture.com – click ‘My account’ at the top 
  • Once logged in, click Member Listings to see your membership expiry date and renew if necessary.
  • While logged in click ‘Join Art Crawl or Purple Banner’’ and click on the item you want to join. 
  • Select the option and pay directly on-line, send an e-transfer to cca@coastculture.com or a cheque by mail to: Coast Cultural Alliance, 4638 Sunshine Coast Hwy, Sechelt BC V7Z 0E5
  • Make sure to update any new information in the ‘Purple Banner Guide’ section at the bottom of the application (best to make it different from your bio).  

If you are a new member

  • Go to coastculture.com, click ‘Become a Member’ and follow the prompts to Register.
  • You will be sent information to log in.
  • Once logged in, click NEW MEMBER START HERE
  • When filling in the member application (after the photo section), check the Purple Banner Art Guide Box, it will open a new section. Fill in Purple Banner information required and follow link to the checkout to make your payment before saving and exiting.
  • Please note you will also need to send an image by email here for the Printed brochure. Images must be 1” wide x .78” high at 300 dpi as .jpg or pdf.
  • Remember to save your information and pay directly on-line or send an e-transfer to cca@coastculture.com.

Things to remember regarding text and images for the printed brochure

  • Text for the printed brochure must be ONLY 260 CHARACTERS(not words) – this includes: name, description, address, phone, web address AND spaces. This information can be entered/edited at the bottom of your members log-in account listing in the Purple Banner section. 
  • Images for the Printed Bruchure must be 1” wide x .78” high at 300 dpi as .jpg or pdf. Horizontal images will show up the best for the space allocated. Vertical images become very small.
  • Send the image to be used in the Printed Brochure by email here  
  • If needed, send a full size image by email here and we can size it for you.

‘Art on the Side’ Listing

Fee: $150.00 (after March 15 a late fee of $25 will be charged)

This is a separate category, not in the regular listings, for retail outlets supporting the arts. E.g. a gallery in a local restaurant, gift/décor outlets, art supply store etc. (Image, text and price same as regular listing and listed on a separate panel next to the map.)

Regular and Art on the Side Listing details:

Display ads (DEADLINE mARCH 15)

For extra exposure, we offer limited ‘display advertising’ spots (a late fee of $25 will be charged after deadline)

  • single panel ad: 3.5” wide x .964″ high – $205 (includes event ads)
  • ¼ panel: 3.5″ wide x 2″ high – $380
  • ½ panel: 3.5″ wide x 4″ high – $750
  • Full panel: 3.5″ wide x 8.5″ high – $1,500

If your flag is ragged and/or looking faded, please replace it!
