Interested in showing more of your work at GPAG? Members are also invited to submit up to six Tiny Artworks to our Members’ Tiny Exhibition on display in Joe’s Lounge during Present Tense.

To May 25th. In this exhibition the concept of the nest serves as both a metaphor and a motif representing a protected space where dreams in their earliest and most fragile forms are given room to grow. Full of movement and textures, using a collection of inorganic and organic tools, soft areas and crisp lines create a contrast within the paintings in which birds appear from the marks as if they have painted themselves into the narrative. Edge’s work explores the quiet sanctuaries we build, physical, emotional and spiritual, encouraging transformation. In the stillness of a protected space, imagination can take flight.
Join us for an Opening Reception with Marney-Rose Edge on Saturday, May 3rd, 2pm – 4pm; and for two upcoming workshops on working in oils and cold wax, on May 7th or on May 21st.
To May 25th. Curiosity, a craving for dopamine, and a love for storytelling come together to throw a party, turn up the volume on imagination, and not look back. Acrylic paintings, a tapestry, and miniature pieces feature animals as archetypes, tiny surprises, and stories you can see and feel. An explosion of colour, texture, and tangled ideas straight from Pelletier’s wonderfully overactive brain, this exhibit is built to add to the neurodivergent conversation displayed during Mental Health Awareness Month and is all about the beauty of feeling a lot. It’s about how colours and textures can change our moods, how small things can hold big meaning, and how even chaos can be cozy when you learn to dance with it.
Join us for an Artist Talk with exhibiting artist Dorothy Doherty on Sunday, April 27th, 2pm – 3pm. All are welcome!
Straddling the line between realism and abstraction, Dorothy Doherty’s work examines a number of issues, particularly relating to urban decay, the beauty of the world around us, the rapid extinction of life forms on this planet, and the effect that humans have on the environment around us. Doherty is a mixed media Vancouver based artist who specializes in working with clay and paint.

To Apr 27th. Fine, detailed, colourful linework sensually evolves into expansive landscapes which subtly engage with the beholder and their preconceptions. Pulp products are reversed into tree, sky, and seascapes. Using colourful pencil and felt pen on found and canvassed industrial packaging paper, Man Made Cloud is an ongoing series first begun in 2021. The materiality of the work and the process behind each piece shine through the finesse of the linework. The negative spaces of brown carton papers are elevated to show growth as dense and vivid as the trees which make up the paper may have once been. An exhibition in the Main Gallery, Apr 3rd – 27th.
Join us on Sat. April 5th 2pm – 4pm for the Opening Reception; and on Sat. April 12th 2pm – 3pm for an Artist Talk.
to May 3rd. This exhibition offers a glimpse into the natural beauty around us. From the little Salal plant growing from the roots of an ancient red cedar to the shoreline after a winter storm, our natural world is precious and must be cherished. Kathryn O’Brien documents this beauty while evoking a feeling of preciousness, stewardship, and conservation. O’Brien lives in Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast, BC. An exhibition in Joe’s Lounge, on display April 3rd – 27th.
to April 27th. Discarded coloured and textured papers are embedded within layers of paint obscuring their surfaces. Making incisions into the surface, Dorothy Doherty lifts and peels sections of the paint, revealing the layers beneath and creating a result that is often entirely unplanned and random in every way. Straddling the line between realism and abstraction, Doherty’s work examines a number of issues, particularly relating to urban decay, the beauty of the world around us, the rapid extinction of life forms on this planet, and the effect that humans have on the environment around us. This exhibition is on display in the Main Gallery Apr 3rd – 27th.
Join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, April 5th, 2pm – 4pm. All are welcome!

to Mar 30. Beginning from the understanding that life is full of complexity, Rose Clarke aims for her works to ignite a creative spark and curiosity within the viewer. Each collage painting in this exhibition is a Storyboard, a tale told in a multitude of ways from a multitude of perspectives. Some can be described literally, some are poetic and suggestive, and others resist interpretation and must be allowed to just be. Clarke practices intuitive image-making, allowing her visual language to emerge from a realm that gets covered over in the business of daily living.
Interested in this exhibition or the processes behind Clarke’s work? Keep an eye out for an upcoming workshop with Rose Clarke at GPAG in April.
