Watercolour artist Roberta Mauel draws inspiration from the beauty and geography of the British Columbia landscape as well as the cultural landscapes of her travels. Her work is whimsical and impressionistic in style and infused with light and colour. Roberta often paints ‘en plein air’ and enjoys painting from her own garden as well as getting out into the backcountry to capture nature in its pristine state. Favourite motifs include garden botanicals, landscapes, European cultural scenes, architecture and still life images.
Roberta has painted in watercolours throughout her life, where possible, painting ‘en plein air’. Her work covers a wide range of subject matter and reflects a deep connection to the landscape of British Columbia. Favourite motifs include botanical images, landscapes, European cultural scenes and architecture and scenes of still life. Roberta’s paintings are whimsical and impressionistic in style and infused with light and both delicate and vibrant colour. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and offers classes in watercolour instruction.
