I am a self-taught creator of small wood crafts, including bowls, plates, boxes, pens, wine bottle stoppers, toys, cell phone stands, and Christmas ornaments using a combination of the lathe, scroll saw, and band saw. I often embellish my creations using different species and colors of wood, wood burning, staining, and painting. Recently, I have become interested in ‘basket illusion’ wood turning, where the finished piece resembles a woven basket.
I draw my inspiration from many sources, including the grain patterns of the wood itself, the landscape and animals around me, my Celtic heritage, and the interplay of geometric patterns.
