Osei-Duro - Maryanne Mathias
I am a textile artist and clothing designer who dabbles in pottery. I am most recognized for my work as co-founder and designer of Osei-Duro clothing, which is hand-dyed and sewn in Ghana. Over the past few years, I have begun to explore how textile waste can be re-purposed into objects and the differences between art and design.
For the Art Crawl I will be showcasing my work in several forms: clothing from my brand Osei-Duro, as well as more recent explorations in textile art, lighting, and ceramics.
The genesis of my art practice is based on the differences between art and design. From there, I explore the relationship between items that are functional and items that are not.
