My work has a strong form and curve with contrasting light and shadow; it is simple yet dramatic. Using a ridiculously small paintbrush and white acrylic paint, I paint freehand from photos I have taken locally. As a fortunate Sunshine Coast, BC, resident, I have an unlimited source of inspiration and subject matter through nature.
I use Canadian Birchwood panels painted with black primer; if you look closely, you can see the wood grain, adding texture to every piece. I also strive to give my art longevity and use locally sourced and sustainable materials. This commitment to the environment is reflected in my original pieces and brings an even more significant impact for all to appreciate.
I’m excited to have my first solo and biggest exhibition for the Art Crawl. The newest and coolest thing is my mugs -they even have colour! But don’t worry, there’s LOTS of paintings. I’ve had new inspirations this year and I’m thrilled with the results.
Though it’s a solo show… I have done some collaboration with Jenn Frisk, #155. She and her husband Peter have made one-of-a-kind art stands to fit my paintings. The wood stands are uniquely made with resin and beach rocks. I’m delighted to have them available at my venue.
I can’t wait for you to visit. This is going to be fun!
