Influenced heavily by her life on the west coast, Keely’s uses vibrant colour, pattern and washes to depict alternate landscapes and realities. Keely completed art residencies at both the Sunshine Coast Arts Council and FibreWorks Studio and Gallery in 2020 and 2021 with the Samara Collective, which she co-founded with three other womxn artists. In the fall of 2022 she is showing a new collection “When We Realize We’ve Been Distracted” at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre.
Having spent half her life in rural communities and the other half in cities, Keely Halward bridges the two by applying a fresh, urban aesthetic to her abstract depiction of remote landscapes.
