Denis Fafard – Wood Sculpture
With each sculpture I try to reveal some inherent vitality – sometimes movement, sometimes stillness and where possible the passage to time.
Not knowing is the most intimate.
Art Crawl Details
My most recent creative endeavor is wood sculpture which I began 5 years ago with my mentor and friend Dave Evanson.
I’m particularly interested in using wood that allows me to reveal its inner beauty as well as the passage of time through weathering and decay.
The Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi influences my work as does the sculpture of Barbara Hepworth.
