Featuring paintings\, drawings\, prints\, pottery\, photography\, textiles\, sculpture\, wood working\, multi-media works\, and much more\, Present Tense highlights the creativity\, originality\, and vibrancy of our local arts community. We accept work in any style or medium; with a maximum size of 16″ x 20″ (or equivalent). Check out our online entry form on the website\, Submission Guidelines and optional .pdf Entry Form for more information. \nInterested in displaying more of your art? While Present Tense is on display in the Main and Eve Smart Galleries\, our Members’ Tiny Exhibition will be returning once again in Joe’s Lounge. In addition to your Present Tense submission\, members may submit up to six pieces of Tiny Art (max. 6″ x 6″ or 5″ x 7″) at a standard price of $40 each. SUMMARY:GPAG: MAUREEN SUGRUE | Pathways
DESCRIPTION:Maureen Sugrue’s exhibition in the Eve Smart Gallery Pathways represents ideas that came from conversations about aging\, paths taken or not taken\, and the journey to “now” in our lives. These conversations led to seeing or imagining paths; not necessarily literal versions\, but instead interpretative impressions of the mental pathways that intertwine throughout our lives. Each work begins with white cloth developed in stages through dyeing\, stitching\, painting\, and printmaking techniques\, with constant experimentation during the process; resulting in vibrant cloth banners that represent a diverse array of mediums and techniques. Sugrue’s creative process involves the full development of an idea to a resolution\, a deeply satisfying process that is also inspired by both the nature and culture surrounding her. \nJoin us at the Opening Reception on Saturday\, May 2nd\, 2pm – 4pm.
