SUMMARY:Gibsons Public Art Gallery: JIM BREUKELMAN | Sanson's Diner Revisited
DESCRIPTION:to March 8th. Beyond an instant\, very little if anything stays exactly the same. To be able to delve into a still image of a moment\, isolated from all of time\, is like the magic of peering through a microscope at a tiny fragment of the larger world. Jim Breukelman came across and photographed Sanson’s Diner in 1966; a place ordinary from the outside\, but with a vibrant atmosphere inside filled with lively\, open\, and expressive people. Going back over a period of time to talk to\, eat with\, and photograph the people at Sanson’s Diner\, this became Breukelman’s first major project photographing a group of people in order to get to know them and tell a small part of their story. An exhibition in the Main Gallery. \nJoin us for the Opening Reception on Sat.\, Feb. 14th\, 2pm – 4pm. All are welcome!

SUMMARY:SCAC: Saskia Jetten : Printmaking Demonstration + Talk
DESCRIPTION:Saskia Jetten is a contemporary fine artist and expert printmaker who gratefully resides in the swiya of the shíshálh Nation where she operates a printshop and artist studio. Her work is rooted in drawing and printmaking and internationally acclaimed for an explorative character. Her work touches on themes related to theatre\, identity\, and interpersonal relationships. \nSaskia uses a wide range of printmaking techniques both in her creative process as well as for production of works like prints\, installations and (stop-motion) animation. Her series of unique hand printed shawls and scarves as well as her hand bound books balance on the threshold of fine and applied arts.

SUMMARY:International Women's Day Collage at The Kube
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a playful collage workshop celebrating creativity and intuition. This two-hour session is open to teens and adults of all experience levels—no art background required\, just curiosity. We’ll begin with a series of simple exercises exploring how shape and colour can express mood\, energy\, and ideas.\nFor inspiration\, Marlene will introduce you to historical and contemporary women (including local) artists who use collage as part of their creative process. She will share a bit about how collage has been used as a form of expression\, storytelling\, and reclamation—especially by women. The second half of the workshop is open studio time\, where you’ll create your own collage\, following your instincts and personal interests. Please bring scissors & a glue stick.
