Kube Opening Reception – Alisa McRonald
April 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
My work has always involved characters’ faces. This comes from a love of storytelling, fables, and folklore. I’m one of those people who finds faces in everything so I’m exploring, Why do we do that?! and, How abstracted can a face become before it is unrecognizable?
I use discarded textiles partly because they connect us to another time. Used items also registers the wear, the belonging, the history, the narrative and this becomes part of the piece.
Alisa McRonald’s woven and hand-punched weirdos live in the ironic pop-culture paradise of a Queer GenX Feminist. Her work is a tactile fruit salad with a soupçon of the esoteric. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally.
