David Roche is a staunch resident of the Coast and the author of Standing at the Back Door of Happiness and How I Unlocked It (published by another staunch Coast resident: Harper Publishers). He has spent decades as a public speaker, actor on stage and film, twice-published author and recent recipient of the Order of Canada. Standing is a memoir only in the sense that the stories are picked from different periods of David’s life. And they are best characterized as memoirs of the heart.
