Gambier Community Centre: Movie Night – The Apprentice

May 10 @ 7:00 pm

Produced by Gambier resident Dan Bekerman. Released last year, the film was nominated for two Academy Awards and competed in the main selection at the Cannes Film Festival.
Dan describes The Apprentice as a testament to the power of humanistic storytelling in an era of fractured political discourse. In the course of promoting the film, Dan has faced direct threats from the current U.S. president and experienced modern-day blacklisting reminiscent of McCarthy-era censorship. His greatest takeaway: honest dialogue and strong communities are essential antidotes to political attempts to control the narrative of truth.
A discussion with Dan will follow the screening.
Please note:
The film is rated R and is not suitable for children.
This is a licensed event. Please do not bring outside alcohol.
