Author Reading: Lyn Baldwin, Drawing Botany Home
June 3 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Free
Writer/artist Lyn Baldwin reads from her new, beautifully illustrated natural history memoir, Drawing Botany Home: A Rooted Life. Returning as a professor to the BC Interior where she grew up with a hippie mother, Lyn confronts the assumptions of her mobility and her profession. In her field journal, the plants of forest and garden, wilderness and wetland, reveal how botany is about place, including those who live and have lived there over time— both settlers and Indigenous peoples.
Lyn Baldwin is an award-winning teacher and botany professor at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. She uses art and science to help cultivate care between the people and plants of place.
